Our company, Cluckie & Paterson Brokers Ltd, has been established as an expansion of the original partnership of Cluckie & Paterson Insurance Brokers formed by Mike Paterson and Stuart Cluckie several years ago.

The business is operated by former partners in the NFU Perth office, Stuart Cluckie and Mike Paterson, who have over 40 years’ industry experience and various professional qualifications.

I have been in the insurance industry for 14 years and my core role has always been dedicated to client service making myself available to my clients when required. I started off my insurance career working within the Perth Agency of NFU Mutual. After gaining experience in account and claims handling, I became a Partner within the Perth Agency in December 2006.
In 2017 I gained my Diploma in Insurance. I have always been committed to providing tailored, professional insurance advice and a local service to all clients, existing and new, and I take great pride in establishing strong working relationships.
During my time with NFU Mutual I gained a great deal of experience in Agricultural Insurance. I also gained experience of small to medium sized businesses of all descriptions.
I live just outside Oban with my wife and 2 young children. Outside work I enjoy going to the gym, playing golf badly and watching St.Johnstone when time allows.
I started working in the insurance industry at the age of 17 for General Accident Insurance. I gained experience working in Claims and Underwriting roles before progressing up to a Technical Business Underwriter position for Aviva. However, I found the roles were very insular and as I have always enjoyed speaking with people who run their own business, I decided to get on the front line and joined the insurance broking side of the industry.
Working as a broker, I have benefitted from dealing with a number of different local businesses, giving me a good knowledge of their industries and issues relating to each.
I became a partner in NFU Perth in 2016 but, coming from a family of small business owners (both sets of grandparents and parents), the lure of truly running my own business was too great and I set up my own brokerage firm with my business partner Stuart Cluckie in 2017.
Strong relationships are key to a successful insurance broking firm which is why Stuart and I will be your sole points of contact. Really, what we aim to be is your competent person for all insurance matters. We will get to know you and your business so that when you need us you will speak with someone who knows who you are, understand what needs to be done and act quickly and efficiently. I was working in my grandparent’s business from a very early age, so customer service is instilled in my DNA.
I hold professional qualifications in both Insurance and Risk Management and can advise on a range of matters.
Away from work, I do enjoy the odd social occasion when my 3 kids allow me. I am actively involved in the local football and swimming clubs, and very much enjoy walking my dog in the country.
